Kanyakumari and group-Shanmukananda Sabha-15.7.2012











The famous Shanmukananda Sabha  is stepping into its 60th year and will be celebrating its Diamond Jubilee Year from July 2012 till June 2013. It will also be the Golden Jubilee of the Auditorium.

The Sabha’s history has been dotted with a number of highs and a few lows, but one will concur that the Sabha has come out triumphant, weathering all storms. Today, it stands out as a unique institution combining fine arts and health care on one hand, holding aloft nationalistic fervor and cultural heritage, on the other.

As part of the celebrations, several programmes are being organised.

• Suprabhatam – Ganapati Homam - 7th July

• Inaugural Function - 17th July

The event will be presided over by Dr. A. P. J. Kalam, former Rashtrapati of India.


While several senior artistes will be performing during the year, following

will be the highlights:

• 60 Nadaswarams and Thavil - 14 July

• 60 Violins - 15 July

• Dr. Sripada Pinakapani Centenary Celebration - 12 August

• A concert to commemorate 60 years of Sabha and 50 years

of The Fine Arts Society, Chembur - 30 September

• Annual Music, Dance and Drama Festival -

19 to 25 October

• 4-day discourse by Swami Dayanand Saraswati -

26 to 29 October

• Brindamma Centenary Celebration - 5 November

• 2-day Dance Festival - 15 and 16 November

• Honouring members above the age of 60 years as on

31st December 2012, who have been members of the Sabha for

a continual period of 20 years or more as on that date

• Theatre Festival - 20 to 26 February, 2013
